TNA Impact 11/19/14

As the second largest wresting promotion in the US, Total Nonstop Action (TNA) has had ups and downs over the years. They got rid of a cancer by the name of Vince Russo. They lost the on screen acting of Dixie Carter (TNA's majority owner). They lost a lot of  original talent (A.J. Styles, Sting, Christopher Daniels, Chris Sabin, Hernandez, and more). A.J. to me is the biggest hit to TNA becasues he was the what Sting was to WCW. Now Look where Styles is...

Sigh... TNA ya messed up...

The show starts with the TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode coming to the ring to do a promo on ex-champion Bobby Lashely. He throws down the TNA title and tells Lashly to "get his ass out right now!" Lashely and Roode are separated by security.

EC3 challenges Rockstar Spud to a match.

TNA is not running a show this week because of the thanksgiving holiday. Jesus... This is the beginning of the end.

1st Match Knockouts Championship: Taryn Terrell vs. Gail Kim vs. Havok
  • Before the match starts I notice three things:
    1. Taryn's ass is basically out
    2. Gail Kim's left arm is injured
    3. Havok cool gimmick, shit theme...
  • Also what do:
    1. Awesome Kong
    1. Lei'D Tapa
    2. And Havok
  • Have in common? They were all booked the same. The killers of the tiny divas. The giants of the Knockouts.
  • Ok, Gail and Taryn work together to cut down the power of Havok
  • They do a double submission on Havok, Havok fights out
  • With Havok on the outside, Gail and Taryn have an equal battle
  • Havok does a splash on both of her opponents
    • 2 count
  • Gail legdrops Havok who was hanging over the top rope
  • Superplex/sitout powerbomb combo hit by all three
  • Both Taryn and Gail hit their finishers on Havok
  • Taryn reverses a pin and gets the Knockouts Title
Taryn will be a better champ than a Ref.
***1/4 Match
Bobby Roode backstage cuts a promo again on Lashley
2nd Match: Kenny King vs. Chris Melendez
  • If you didn't know, Chris Melendez is a war veteran that lost his leg fighting the good fight. He came back then trained with the Dudley Boy's.
  • Kenny King has been call this man "Peggy"
  • I agree with Taz that it must be difficult to wrestle on a prosthetic leg
  • Three people off the top of my head do it well:
    • Zach Gowan
    • OVW's Michael Hayes
    • Chris Melendes
  • Chris hits Kenny with a big boot and a Fisherman's Suplex
  • MVP runs in and hits Melendez with a chair
  • Mr. Anderson scares off MVP
  • But not before MVP injures Chirs's leg
Normal Match
***1/2 Match
EC3 comes out to cut a promo on Rockstar Spud. He says "Jeremy Borash, the man I slapped so hard his entire family died..." I wouldn't want to join Borash for Thanksgiving. Here comes Spud. EC3 eggs on Spud to hit him. Spud kicks him in the "yam bag" and it's on. It doesn't take long for the size advantage to kick in and EC3 beats down Spud. The segment ends with EC3 cutting some of Spuds hair. I love EC3. Put the belt on him now!

3rd Match: Tommy Dreamer vs. Bram    No DQ Match
  • Bram calls himself the "New King of Hardcore". He was attacked past ECW stars to put this over. To me... the thing is no one  cares. Yes hardcore was awesome, but after years on years i just want wresting.
  • Dreamer send Bram into the post and then a suplex on the outside.
  • Dreamer hits Bram with a replica of John Cena's US title
  • Bram takes control making Dreamer bleed
  • Tommy shouts "T N A!" then does a dropkick into a trashcan into the corner
  • Tommy find a "Steel chair wrapped in barbed wire.
  • Magnus comes in to help his friend Bram
  • Al Snow comes in to help his friend Tommy Dreamer
  • The two run ins brawl to the back
  • Bram wins with Tommy's DDT
meh...
**1/2 Match
4th Match: Four way for the TNA X Division Title: Manik vs. Zema Ion vs. Tigre Uno vs. LOw Ki

  • I look forward to a great spot fest
  • Zema hits a nice double dropkick from the top rope
  • In a weird moment Low Ki double foot stomps all three
  • Tirge Uno does a corkscrew tope to the outside and a phoenix splash
  • Low Ki hits a "Avalanche Ki Crusher" and gets the win
Could how been better still had my attention
***1/2 Match

Last segment, Kurt Angle comes out and cuts a promo on MVP. Kurt was attacked earlier in the night by a crazed MVP. MVP hasn't been in TNA for a year and he is already "Sick of this company..." Kurt starts to batter MVP until Kenny King  comes as back up. Anderson takes out King, Lashley takes out Anderson, Roode and Lashley brawl to the ending.

Overall, I  liked the MVP, King, and Lashley back when it was first formed. How EY lost his belt, there was passion there. Heels with authoritative power and the Super face. Now I either want an MVP or EC3 storyline into the belt. I don't want Roode to have a year with the belt.

Show Overall: 7/10
Nothing was to bad. TNA without Russo is better and if TNA never brought back Russo things would be a different story.

OH BY THE WAY
  • Tenay is reportly done soon. Dear lord Tenay works best in three person teams
    • IF TNA WAS SMART they would have Tenay, Mathews, and Taz
    • I loved the short while when they added Todd Keneley
    • Keneley was there for my favorite TNA PPV Lockdown 2013

  • TNA Plans to go back to LIVE
    • Im fine with this
    • Also I want a WCW 2000 style vacate the titles and restart new fueds

Lucha Underground 11/19/14

America needs an alternative in wrestling. And since the second place in televised wrestling in the US is notoriously bad, here's another alternative. The best things in the US are imported and until New Japan Pro Wrestling get a spot in us televisions, AAA's Lucha Underground will do just fine. Note: I was one of the complainers that said the  first to episodes needed more "Lucha" if your going to have that as the base of the show. On commentary is Matt Striker (my second favorite behind JR) and Vampiro.
1st Match: Sexy Star vs. Ivelisse

  • Sexy Starts by cutting a promo in spanish on Chavo Guerrero
    • She says it will be her hands that finish the Guerrero dynasty...
  • Ivelisse come in cuts a promo on Sexy Star
    • Saying she cant beat one of the boys, that she has the mask to hid her ugly face, and with consonance she says shes the "baddest bitch in the building..."
  • Sexy Star slaps her and we've got a match
  • Good start that dies quick when Sexy Star gave an armdrag and looked to give a dropkick stopped and got a poor clothesline from Ivelisse
  • Sexy Star does a "Matrix" (that's what they called it) then a nice hurricanrana
  • Ivelisse takes control until a codebreaker from Sexy Star puts them both down
  • Sexy double suplex but just two
  • Ivelisse Guillotine choke into a DDT just two
  • Sexy Star Victory Roll and the win
                                                                        *** match
2nd Match: Pentagon Jr vs. Fenix

  • Pentagon Jr demands respect because of his family heritage
  • Starts fast pased neither getting the upperhand
  • A standing moonsault and a round of applause for the stand off
  • Tope con Helo on to Pentagon Jr
  • Fenix beautiful springboard dropkick
  • Fenix on fire hit a springboard corkscrew tope
  • Pentagon hit a "modified lungblower"
  • Fenix hit a Lethal Injection (Koji cutter I think)
  • Pentagon hits a sling blade
    • only 2
  • Fenix finishes the match by hitting  the "Spanish Fly" (top rope flip bottom)
                                                                 ****1/2 match

I really want to see Prince Puma vs. Fenix

3rd Match: Drago vs. King Cuerno

Before I start gotta say Drago's mask is amazing.

It is on La Parka levels of perfection in the lucha world. On the other hand King Cuerno looked like Tom Green from Freddy got fingered... With less blood.

  • Cuerno no sells a lot
  • Cuerno takes some offence from Drago but gets control back
  • Cuerno uses the laces on his wrist to rack the eyes of Drago... I don't buy with Drago's Mask
  • Drago uses the ref to hit a hurricanran then hits a cannonball
  • Cuerno follows up with a suicide dive of his own
  • Drago armdrags into a pin and gets a very lucha win
Nice match. Want  to see more from both.

                                                                   ***3/4 match

4th match: Johnny Mundo vs. Big Ryck

Note: I check in both their times in the WWE, they never faced each other one on one. Both are former Intercontinental Champions and ECW Champions. I'm looking forward.

  •  Both look  the same as they did in the WWE
  • After some elbows and kicks by Mundo, Ryck lays him out with a strong shoulder tackle.
  • Ryck does many big man moves until Johnny fires back
  • Mundo hits a flip neckbraker
    • just 2
  • Ryck kicks after a springboard kick
[cut to backstage where Prince Puma is getting his, and the gang of Ryck runs to the ring.]
  • Johnny wins by DQ
  • Johnny still hits a standing flip bottom on one of the members
  • The Gang grabs the thinnest table I've ever seen
  • The table breaks in a straight line and Mundo is out
I wanted more but didn't get any sadly...
*** match

And we're  out.
Over all I loved the show and  can't wait for the next episode of Lucha Underground!

Show Rating: 8/10 I'm interested to watch next week
